If your home/building is within the bounds of St. Joseph, any exterior changes or new construction require a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) from IHPC. Paint, siding, fencing, landscaping, and roofing are all examples of items requiring a COA. For more information, visit IHPC's website. (Look for Certificate of Appropriateness in the links at the bottom.)
We are not an HOA so membership is not required. However, the nominal annual dues help support neighborhood events and resources like this website.
We meet monthly and the agenda varies. Meetings typically cover updates from our committees, reviewing proposals for new construction, ideation on new initiatives, infrastructure discussions and sharing updates from city officials. We also seek grant opportunities for the neighborhood and our businesses and serve as a liaison to city council and IMPD to surface neighborhood concerns. We also manage the neighborhood foundation funds and plan events.
Report infrastructure issues like potholes or line of sight obstructions directly to the mayor's office. Use the RequestIndy app or call 317-327-4MAC(4622)
